The Story
On Sunday, October 15, 1967, Otto B. Goodman was working as a gas station attendant at the Standard Station at Interstate 95 and State Road 40 in Ormond Beach, Florida. According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, he was gunned down in an armed robbery there and died from being shot.
That paragraph is most of what is public. The Sheriff's Office has not released a time of day, what was taken, any witness accounts, a case number or a photo of him; on its cold case map, his picture reads "Photo Not Available." Nobody has been named or charged.
When the Sheriff's Office put its unsolved homicides on an online map in June 2019, Goodman's 1967 case was the oldest on it, and it is still record number one. In 2024 the agency said it had about 30 unsolved homicides going back to 1967. In October 2026, around the 59th anniversary, the Sheriff's Office shared his case again and asked anyone with information to come forward.

Chenzo Clues
Details I noticed by putting the public records side by side. Observations, not accusations and not police findings.
Clue 1 New added October 19, 2026
Still record number one
When I pulled the Sheriff's Office cold case map data on Oct. 19, 2026, it held 51 records. Otto Goodman's is still record number one, and still the oldest year on the map.1
How I found it: Queried the public map layer the Sheriff's Office publishes and checked the record count and Goodman's record.
Clue 2 New added October 19, 2026
It happened on a Sunday
October 15, 1967 fell on a Sunday. If you or your family were around Ormond Beach that weekend, that might help place the memory.1
How I found it: Checked the weekday of the date the Sheriff's Office gives.
Clue 3 New added October 19, 2026
Two versions of the place
A crime-listing website puts this case at a different station on a different road. The Sheriff's Office's own record says the Standard Station at I-95 and State Road 40, so that's the version on this page.1
How I found it: Compared the agency record with an unofficial listing; went with the agency.
