Early on the morning of November 27, 2015, the day after Thanksgiving, John Robert Edward Stubbs was found dead with apparent gunshot wounds behind a home on East Drain Street in Bunnell. He was 46.
Local reporting at the time described him as a familiar face in the neighborhood who detailed cars and did handyman and trucking work, and relatives said he had served in the U.S. Marine Corps for about eight years. The FCSO photo released for the case shows him in Marine dress blues.
The Bunnell Police Department led the original investigation, with help from FDLE and the Sheriff's Office. The case was later transferred to the FCSO Cold Case Unit, which lists it as an unsolved homicide under case #15-118374. No arrest has been announced, and investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward.
