Sherri Holland, 34, lived in Atlanta and kept a vacation home in Flagler Beach. Around 11:30 a.m. on August 16, 1996, she was last seen leaving the Flagler Beach house to drive back to Atlanta with her two dogs. She never arrived.

About eight days later her gold 1987 BMW 325i, with Georgia plates, was found abandoned with a flat tire on the northbound side of Interstate 75 just south of Highway 54 in Morrow, Georgia, roughly 300 miles from where she was last seen. Her dogs turned up near an apartment complex in Riverdale, about two miles away. Reporting in 2018 said the car still held a loaded gun and more than $2,400 in cash, but no wallet or luggage.

Morrow police, the Clayton County Sheriff's Office and the GBI said in 2018 that foul play was suspected. That June they searched woods near I-75 in Morrow after a tip about a wallet found in a creek years earlier. Cadaver dogs alerted, but the search found nothing. The GBI still lists her as a missing person.
