In the early hours of June 7, 1992, three women vanished from a house in central Springfield, Missouri: Sherrill Levitt, 47, her daughter Suzie Streeter, 19, and Suzie's friend Stacy McCall, 18. Suzie and Stacy had graduated from high school the day before and, according to police, left a graduation party at about 2:15 a.m. to stay the night at the Levitt/Streeter home. Levitt was last heard from around 11:15 p.m. the night before, on a phone call with a friend.
When friends and then police checked the house later that day, investigators said it showed no signs of a struggle. The women's purses, money, clothing, cars, keys and cigarettes were still there, and so was the family dog. The FBI's ViCAP alert puts the disappearance between about 2:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
Springfield Police, working with the FBI, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other agencies, have investigated the women's lives and followed thousands of tips, but police say none has explained why they vanished or where they are. No one has been charged. In 2022, for the 30th anniversary, the FBI's ViCAP program reissued its alert with new age-progressed images of all three women.
The case is still listed among Springfield Police cold cases. Official records spell Levitt's first name two ways: Springfield Police use "Sherrill" and the FBI poster uses "Sherill."
